Historic Restorations

Carefully restoring classic Estonian timber architecture, historical window casings, and traditional lime facade finishes.

Respecting the Craft of the Past

Estonia has a rich architectural history, from the medieval stone walls of Tallinn's Old Town to the romantic wooden summer villas of Nõmme and Haapsalu. Preserving these surfaces requires specialized techniques and traditional materials that modern sprayers and synthetic materials would damage.

Eskafopaint OÜ provides sensitive conservation services for timber profiles, historical window frames, ornate plaster trims, and classic lime facade systems. We combine historic methods with modern tools to ensure long-term durability.

Our Restoration Approach

Phase 1: Safe Coating Stripping

We remove old, failing lead paints and varnishes using infrared heat equipment (which heats paint safely without warping the underlying wood) or mild organic chemical compounds.

Phase 2: Timber Stabilization & Profiling

We inspect timber for dry rot, reinforce weakened joints, and splice in matching reclaimed pine or oak. We duplicate historic molding profiles using custom carpentry routers.

Phase 3: Traditional Finish Applications

We apply natural cold-pressed linseed oils, organic linseed varnishes, or breathable silicate mineral paints. These materials bind with wood fibers, allowing them to breathe and expand without peeling.

Traditional Materials Integrity

We refuse to use synthetic acrylic sealants on historic wood. Our window restorations utilize traditional linseed oil putty (which remains flexible for decades) and hand-brushed oil varnishes. This guarantees that restored windows remain functional and beautiful, maintaining the authentic historic value of the building.
